Gunma

Since I lived in Niigata , it was no problem for me to visit the neighbouring prefecture Gunma. Gunma is famous for it’s mountain ranges such as Mount Akagi, Mount Haruna, Mount Myogi, Mount Nikko-Shirane, and Mount Asama.

The quality of the natural onsens in this area were terrific for various bodily aliments and skin conditions. For an interesting outdoor mixed bathing experience, try Takaragawa Onsen. The bathing fee for an adult is about 2000 yen and rental bathing towels are between 500-1000 yen. The changing rooms are on the smaller size. There are various bathing areas to try. Some of the regional foods I tried in Gunma are Himokawa Udon, Konnyaku, and Yaki Manju. All of them are 美味しい delicious!

Gunma is approximately 2 hours away from Tokyo by shinkansen or toll route. Plan a visit to Gunma to experience a nature getaway from city life.
